In our experience, classroom and web based training programs either have to be adapted to client conditions or completely new courses have to be created. In adapting, customizing or creating new training modules follows the traditional ADDIE model of instructional design.  ADDEI stands for Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate and it works something like this: 



This is the fact finding stage.  Our goal during this stage is to gain complete clarity regarding what outcomes you desire as a result of the training program.  Outcomes are usually tangible things like lower error rates or more procedures compliance, but in order to achieve those things we usually have to focus on what behaviors target to get us to the outcomes.  The final goal of the Analysis phase is agree on clear learning objectives.  What skills or abilities do you want to see in your team as a result of the training. 



In this phase we create a broad outline of the program for your review.  This might involve the types of exercises or activities that we will use.  You will see the structure of the program including number of modules and the length of the class. 



That’s it.  Now we create the class.  You review it, and then we’ll be ready to…



Implementation could one or more training session, a train-the-trainers session, or a e-learning roll-out.



Lastly, we like to request some feedback on the quality and value of the course.  We use a simple feedback for to collect this information.  If your organization has a learning management system that can collect additional levels of training impact, usually referred to as Kirkpatrick’s Reaction, Learning, Behavior, and results, we will be happy to work with you on some survey and data collection design.
